Rametetine (also translated as Lamelteron), trade name: Rozerem, chemical name (S)-N-[2-(1,6,7,8-tetrahydro-2H-indole-[ 5,4-b]furan-8-yl)ethyl]propanamide, approved by the FDA in September 2005, is marketed in the United States under the trade name Rozerem. It can be used to treat sleepless insomnia, as well as chronic insomnia and short-term insomnia. The exact effect. This product can selectively stimulate melatonin type 1 receptors and type 2 receptors (MT1, MT2), increase slow wave sleep (SWS) and rapid eye movement sleep (REW), thereby reducing insomnia. Rametamide is the first non-addicted insomnia treatment drug that is not listed as a special control.
Ramelteon Application :
(1) Ramelteon is Melatonin MT1/MT2 receptor agonist.Â
(2)Ramelteon can be used for insomnia, particularly delayed sleep onset. Ramelteon has not been shown to produce dependence and has shown no potential for abuse, and the withdrawal and rebound insomnia that is typical with GABA modulators is not present in ramelteon. Some clinicians also use ramelteon for the treatment of delayed sleep phase syndrome.
(3) Patients should take no more than the prescribed dosage of ramelteon, typically about 30 minutes before bedtime. It should be taken without food and patients should avoid taking it soon after consuming a high-fat meal, because this can interfere with its efficacy. This medication comes in an immediate-release tablet and should not be chewed or otherwise broken. Patients should only take this medication if they have a full seven to eight hours to devote to sleeping. Most people should notice an improvement in their sleeping habits within seven to 10 days of using this medicine.
