The associate professor of the Department of Medicine, Graduate School of Medicine, University of Tokyo, Japan, threatened the movement of medical APP. On the 6th of July, 2016, the company held the "5th Health and Longevity Cycle" (University of Tokyo) and introduced the "DialBetics" self-management support system for patients with type 2 diabetes.
DialBetics was jointly developed by NTT DoCoMo, a lecture on health spatial informatics in the Graduate School of Medicine, the University of Tokyo. When a patient uses a dedicated APP to send data such as blood glucose, blood pressure, and diet measured at home to the server, the system automatically determines whether it is at a dangerous level. If the risk is high, the data will be forwarded to the doctor. The risk level is automatically determined using an algorithm developed according to the treatment guidelines. It will then be fed back to the patient via the phone.
According to the threat of Jiadai, as a clinical study, the development of the 34 patients who actually used the APP conducted a questionnaire survey and obtained the following results. "The answer took 94% of the time to use the app, and the answer was 97% by confirming the habits as a measurement data."
About half of the patients who answered the use of the APP in their daily lives answered “difficult to do itâ€. Threat Jiadai pointed out that "the use of ICT APP is not without burden. However, after the body is unhealthy, the burden will be heavier. Although healthy living is taken for granted, it sounds simple, but it is difficult to do."
It is said that after recommending the APP to patients who go to the hospital for treatment, “the “authority†APP recommended by the doctor is very strong,†the doctor’s recommendation is of great significance. This can be said to be a unique phenomenon in Japan where there is still a lack of approval for medical APP cases. DialBetics is currently applying for the “Advanced Medical Beta†recognition from the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare of Japan.
