On July 23rd, although Sony Corporation of Japan introduced a 3D display device as early as 2011, the device has been used only in the fields of watching movies and games. Now, Sony has just launched the latest HMD series of head-mounted 3D displays that have been officially applied to the medical field.
Kazuo Hirai, president and CEO of Sony, just announced the upgrade of the original HMZ-T2, model HMM-3000MT, which can help surgeons view pathological images in patients in 2D or 3D. And the display accuracy is further improved. Unlike traditional doctors who view pathological reactions in patients through the display screen, head-mounted 3D displays do not limit the doctor's posture and distance.
Although the HMM-3000MT has the same 720p resolution OLED display as the HMZ-T2, the upgraded version enhances image balance and display comfort compared to the previous HMZ-T2. At the same time, the new HMM-3000MT also supports the picture-in-picture function, allowing doctors to view the pathological state at different angles at the same time, and even support video rotation and horizontal flip.
At present, the first batch of HMM-3000MT head-mounted 3D displays have been approved for use in the medical field in Japan, and are currently approved for use outside Japan. I believe that in the future, this new treatment will be accepted by hospitals and doctors in more and more countries and regions.
