The correct calculation method of the actual magnification of digital microscope

First understand the target size of CCD or COMS:

Commonly used CCD or COMS have 5 sizes of 1, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, and 1/4 inch.

Generally, conventional digital microscopes are implemented using a third object plus CCD or CMOS. If a conventional two-dimensional stereo, biological or gold equivalent microscope has been purchased, how should it be achieved? This requires not eliminating the original purchased products, but also saving costs to achieve digital, while directly using the computer screen to observe the product, but also better protect our eyes, which will be achieved through some transformation. We should know that the target size of CCD or COMS is closely related to the magnification. Its size is directly related to the magnification of the digital microscope.

Then let's take a look at what the target size is.

In general, the target size is the diagonal size of CCD or COMS. Our commonly used CCD or COMS has 1, 2/3, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4 inch. The actual dimensions are as follows:

1 inch - the target size is 12.7 mm wide by 9.6 mm high and the diagonal length is 16 mm;
2/3 inch - the target size is 8.8 mm wide x 6.6 mm high, and the diagonal length is 11 mm;
1/2 inch - the target size is 6.4 mm wide x 4.8 mm high, and the diagonal length is 8 mm;
1/3 inch - the target size is 4.8 mm wide x 3.6 mm high, and the diagonal length is 6 mm;
1/4 inch - the target size is 3.2 mm wide x 2.4 mm high and the diagonal length is 4 mm.

Now that we know the target size of a CCD or CMOS, it is easy to know what the digital microscope magnification is.

We usually calculate according to the formula of digital magnification, the specific formula is as follows:

Magnification of the objective lens × (diagonal of the computer screen / target size of ccd or cmos) = total magnification.

for example:
10× objective lens plus 1/3 inch CCD or CMOS digital microscope total magnification = objective lens 10 times × (15 inches × 25.4 / target size 6mm) = 635 times.
