Bald head, but surrounded by a short collared plumage extending to the back of the neck. Male and female ostriches are sexually mature and their skin is light yellow. After sexual maturity, the skin of male ostrich body is pink. During the breeding season, the head, neck, and legs of the male ostrich also turn red. The male ostrich has a feather ring between the neck and the back, with a white feather ring. Male and female ostrich plumage is black, wing feathers and tail feathers are white.
