US scientists have found that measuring blood pressure can predict strokes ------------------------------------------- ----------------------------------------
According to the latest issue of the American Journal of Hypertension, scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that by measuring the level of systolic blood pressure in blood pressure indicators, people can predict the risk of stroke, and controlling hypertension can effectively prevent stroke.
Two indicators of blood pressure measurement - diastolic blood pressure and systolic blood pressure - can reflect the risk of stroke in patients to varying degrees.
Researchers have found that by observing systolic blood pressure levels, doctors can more effectively grasp the patient's ability to resist stroke.
In the past 15 years, researchers have followed 3,295 men with high blood pressure and 3,462 women with high blood pressure, during which 113 patients died from a stroke. The results showed that when the systolic blood pressure increased by 10 mm Hg, the risk of stroke was increased by 19% in men and by 15% in women.
The results of this study confirm the previous view of doctors that stroke can be predicted by observing systolic blood pressure, which further demonstrates the importance of controlling systolic blood pressure to prevent stroke.
The normal blood pressure level of healthy adults should be less than 120/80 mm Hg. Those who had systolic blood pressure levels greater than 140 mm Hg or diastolic blood pressure greater than 90 mm Hg on the same day were diagnosed with hypertension.
