From the time to the winter, in order to prevent the storage of poor pesticides, resulting in poisoning or wastage of humans and animals, according to the author's experience, the “eight defenses†should be paid attention to in the winter storage of pesticides.
One must prevent accidents. Pesticides are toxic and volatile. Should be placed in a counter or wooden box, outside the lock, affixed with labels, special management. Pesticides should not be placed in the same room as food, vegetables or feed, and should not be placed together with flammable and explosive materials such as firecrackers, gunpowder, oil, diesel fuel, gas, etc. to avoid accidents such as poisoning and explosion.
Second, anti-volatilization. Dimethoate, dichlorvos, phoxim, chlorfenapyr, acetamiprid and other liquid pesticides are easily volatile and cause air pollution. When farmers keep such pesticides in winter, they must tighten the caps to prevent pesticides from evaporating due to factors such as humidity, light, and temperature.
Third, anti-mixing. Pesticides are divided into acid, medium and alkaline. Acid is dichlorvos, bromfemethrin, etc.; neutral triazophos, insecticidal double, ciprofloxacin, fipronil, etc.; alkaline Bordeaux mixture, lime sulfur, agricultural streptomycin, Thiobacillus copper and so on. The pesticides of these three different natures should be stored separately during the winter storage period (preferably more than 2 meters apart). For the two pesticides that cannot be used, they cannot be mixed in one bottle to avoid failure.
Fourth, to prevent moisture. 50% compound sclerotium net WP, 40% Fuji 1, 75% lanthanum and 50% Dukesson wettable powder and other powder pesticides are easy to absorb moisture and agglomerate. Therefore, powder pesticides in winter should be kept dry or open for ventilation.
Fifth, we must prevent freezing. After the "winter solstice", as the temperature drops, in order to prevent liquid agent pesticides from freezing after icing or to burst the bottles, wheat straw or clam shells can be used to cover the insulation or to dig one-meter deep inside the cellar for storage. However, straw and oyster shells that are used to cover insulation can no longer be used as animal feed.
Sixth, prevent losing labels. In order to prevent unclear misuse and cause accidents, in the storage of various types of pesticides in the winter, do take care to protect the labels and find that the labels have been blurred or lost. The labels should be promptly subsidized and marked.
Seven to prevent exposure. Powdered pesticides tend to melt at high temperatures, and decompose and evaporate. Emulsion pesticides can also destroy their emulsifying properties and reduce their efficacy when exposed to high temperatures. In particular, pesticides such as ciprofloxacin, dimehypo, triazophos, fipronil, phoxim, etc. are most afraid of sunlight, and if they are exposed to light for a long time, they will cause decomposition and deterioration of pesticides.
Eight anti-drug need to put together. Most pesticides will decompose when they encounter alkali, resulting in reduced efficacy failure. And many nitrogen fertilizers and ammonium bicarbonate, ammonium nitrate and other ammonia released after moisture decomposition can combine a basic substance. Winter pesticides and fertilizers cannot be stored in the same room.
