The ducks should be selected to build duck houses. The duck houses are places where ducks live, rest and lay eggs. Whether the site is good or bad and the arrangement of the duck houses are reasonable or not, it is related to whether duck production performance can be fully exerted, but also related to Feeding management and economic benefits. Therefore, the choice of site depends on the nature of the duck farm, natural conditions and social conditions and other factors. In general, site selection must consider the following issues.
Duck farm positioning. The location of the duck farm is very important, we must choose a good location. This is because the main task of the meat and duck farms is to provide fresh ducks and ducks for both urban and rural residents. Therefore, it is necessary to consider the convenience of services as well as the environmental sanitation of the cities and towns, and consider the health and epidemic prevention of ducks on the farm. The site should be selected in the suburbs, generally 10-20 kilometers from the town is appropriate, the duck farm can be far away from the town.
Adequate water supply and good water quality. The construction of duck houses must first consider the source of water. Generally, it should be built on the edge of rivers, ditches, reservoirs and lakes. The water surface should be as wide as possible and the water depth should be about 1 meter. The source of water is preferably slow-moving living water. The water sources should be free of pollution. There should be no pollution sources such as livestock processing plants, chemical plants and pesticide plants near the duck farms. They should not be too close to residential areas and should be built as far as possible upstream of factories and towns. It is advisable to build deep wells in large duck farms to ensure the quality of water. The quality of the water must be checked and no more than 5,000 coliforms per 100 ml of water can be detected.
The terrain is dry and has good drainage. Although ducks can live in water, they should be kept dry, not wet, and they must not be flooded. Therefore, the duck farm site should be slightly higher, slightly inclined to the surface of the water, at least 5-10 slope, in order to facilitate drainage. To build a field in the mountainous area, it is not advisable to build a mountaintop where there is a large temperature difference between day and night, or a poorly ventilated and wet valley deep area. You should choose to build a field in the middle of the mountain. The slope of the mountainside should not be too steep, nor should it be rugged; low-lying and damp areas can easily promote the breeding of pathogenic microorganisms, and ducks are susceptible to disease.
The house faces south or southeast. The site is located on the northern slope of the river and canal water source, with the slope facing south or southeast, the water sports field and the outdoor sports field on the south, and Shemen also facing south or southeast. This orientation, the large lighting area in winter, is conducive to keep warm, good ventilation in summer, and not subject to direct sunlight, with the characteristics of warm in winter and cool in summer, is conducive to improving production performance.
