Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a force to “subvert†various industries: cars can drive automatically, you can buy things with your face, your home speakers can chat with you, and even robots take the college entrance examination. As a major area of ​​human life, medical care has certainly become a hotspot in the application of artificial intelligence technology. The most important aspect of solving industry problems with AI technology is the application scenario. The application scenarios in the medical field are very complicated. Hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medical equipment manufacturers, medical insurance companies, medical examination organizations, health management institutions, and pharmacies or drug distribution companies all have different needs and need different solutions. This is from the perspective of the hospital, to see what application scenarios can be artificial intelligence. Some of these scenarios may also apply to other health care providers, such as health authorities.
The core application scenario of AI in medical services is to solve the problem of insufficient quality medical resources.
“Difficult to see a doctor†is the place where the general public is most devastated by hospital services. In fact, the core problem is that there are insufficient quality medical resources and supply and demand do not match. Large hospitals such as Xiehe and 301 hospitals have limited doctor resources. It is common practice to see hundreds of patients per doctor's clinic every day. Many doctors (such as pediatric hospitals) have to go out at night and have to go out on weekends. Even so, the patient still can't finish. Not to mention that doctors in large hospitals also undertake many teaching and research tasks. The productivity of these doctors' "human flesh" has been "squeezed" to the greatest extent, so the application scenario of AI in large hospitals is how to help the doctors in large hospitals to further improve production efficiency by the power of machines (artificial intelligence).
In order to alleviate the problem of insufficient resources in large hospitals, the state has been pushing for “grading diagnosis and treatmentâ€, hoping that the majority of primary hospitals can divert patients. However, the status quo is that primary medical institutions, especially the vast rural or remote areas, have limited resources for high-quality doctors. The people do not trust the medical quality of primary medical institutions and are unwilling to go. The doctors at the grassroots level are not enough for the training during the school year or the post-employment training for the doctors in the larger hospitals. At the same time, they face the general medical treatment of dozens of diseases (unlike the doctors in the big hospitals). All patients are treated according to the department, and they will face patients with various common diseases (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, coronary heart disease, etc.). Therefore, the core application scenario of AI in primary care is how to use the power of machine (artificial intelligence) to help grassroots doctors reach a moderate level of diagnosis and treatment services, so that ordinary people are willing to enter the primary hospitals and truly achieve "graduated diagnosis and treatment."
